We are now having a summer break. Weekly sessions will resume on Tuesday 1st September.

This is a comment from someone who came to Retford Community Singers for the first time recently. If you like singing, why not join us. We meet from 7pm to 8.30pm every Tuesday in the large hall behind Grove Street Methodist church in Retford town centre. New singers are always welcome. No auditions. No need to read music. Everything is learnt by ear. A great way to spend an evening.

On International Women’s Day in March 2025, at an event in the Retford town hall to mark installation of a blue plaque for suffragist and social reformer Jessie Craigen, we sang a song specially written for the event by Janet Wood. The video below shows us rehearsing for the performance.
Singing is fun, sociable and good for your health. If you are looking for something different to do, why not give us a try. Having a good sing on a Tuesday evening could be just what you need.
We are a big friendly group and we make a great noise together. We don’t have the pressure of preparing for performances which you will find in other choirs.
WHO ARE WE?
Retford Community Singers is a lively inclusive choir open to everyone who wants to sing for pleasure. The choir was formed in September 2012, with the aim of providing opportunities for anyone from the local community to sing, regardless of musical experience, age or background, and to meet other singers in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
We sing, unaccompanied and in harmony, a wide variety of songs drawn from folk, pop, gospel and world music – in fact anything with a good harmony. Learning is by listening and repetition using Natural Voice methods www.naturalvoice.net
There is no need to read music and no musical knowledge is required, though if you have some, that’s great. The result is a rich, enthusiastic sound but the emphasis is very much on singing for enjoyment rather than for polished performance.
