Roam Around Retford

Janet Wood, musical director of Retford Community Singers, has composed six songs for choirs about the heritage of Retford. They vary in style and complexity but they are all enjoyable to sing and to listen to. They deserve to form a lasting part of the local musical repertoire and for this reason we are making them available for other choirs and individuals to sing. 

With assistance from Nottinghamshire County Council and the Retford Civic Society, the words and scores of the songs have been published in a booklet, together with a CD. The CD is a tool which people can use to learn the individual vocal parts even if they cannot read music, making it easier for them to produce the wonderful harmony sounds which are Janet’s special skill.

A printed copy of the booklet and  the CD has been given free of charge to schools and choirs in the Retford area and copies are in Retford library. The text of the booklet is below. For technical reasons we are unable to provide a downloadable version of the Roam Around Retford CD.  It can be purchased for £2 (plus postage).
